CLIQ seeks to recruit a Data Analyst Apprentice with specific interest in and desire to learn and develop skills in collecting, organising, and analysing data to build information insights.

The Data Analyst Apprenticeship is a new programme to Kaplan International Pathways, however, we will be closely following Level 4 Apprenticeship standards as defined by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.

Applications are welcomed from those wishing to start a career in data science or individuals considering a career change. This role would appeal to individuals who may have already gained a solid grounding in essential business skills including, e.g., workload and time management, operating within less defined parameters, stakeholder management.

The role will be challenging but rewarding and is aligned with Level 4 Data Analyst standards. The apprentice will gain on the job experience, earn a salary and spend  20% of their time learning, undertaking a special programme of training offered by Kaplan Professional, our training partner, working towards an industry-recognised Level 4qualification. Key training areas will include:

•    Excel Associate

•    Data and visualisation using Tableau and Power BI

•    Data Analysis and Statistics

•    SQL and Data Modelling

•    Exploring Data Science using Python and R

Please note that the training component of our programme is funded by the apprenticeship levy and apprentices need to meet Education and Skills Funding Agency eligibility requirements, including having the right to work in the UK and an eligible residency status (please refer to Education and Skills Funding Agency rules, Annex A, for further information). Individuals who already have a degree-level qualification in a related subject area are unlikely to attract apprenticeship levy funding, which prohibits the use of Government funds to repeat prior learning, and as such are ineligible for this apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will be expected to identify, gather, analyse data, and make their insights accessible to Kaplan Pathways, through easy-to-understand dashboards and reports, in order to facilitate evidence-driven decision making and drive improvements in student academic performance and quality of our provision.

The expected responsibilities in relation to student performance and feedback data will include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Identifying data sources to meet stakeholders’ requirements, supporting them in evidence-driven decision making

  • Liaising and communicating with key stakeholders across the organisation to establish data needs

  • Collecting compiling, cleansing data from student academic performance and engagement (both quantitative and qualitative, e.g.: assessment performance scores, attendance data, VLE usage logs, e-book usage logs, feedback survey data, etc.,) in order to perform analyses, identifying correlations and patterns

  • Visualising data and building front-end, easy-to-understand interfaces and reporting dashboards for datasets as defined by specifications

  • Choosing and performing statistical analyses of data sets appropriate to specific purposes/business requirements and producing reports for key stakeholders

  • Using data to predict trends in academic behaviour of individual students and student population as a whole

  • Identifying key findings and trends in data that have particular importance for planning or strategy development in specific areas of interest by Kaplan Pathways

  • Summarising and presenting the results of data analysis to a range of stakeholders, drawing conclusions, and recommending an appropriate response, offering guidance or interpretation to aid understanding of the data

  • Monitoring data quality, continuously improving data collection mechanisms and analysis, and removing corrupt data, ensuring data are used and represented ethically in line with relevant legislation (e.g., GDPR which incorporates Privacy by Design)

  • Attending and fulfilling all requirements of the apprenticeship training programme delivered by Kaplan Professional, including successfully passing the Level 4 qualification

  • Any other duties as required by the CLIQ Senior Management Team
