We are seeking module tutors with a health background to join our dynamic online faculty.

In this role, you will lead and support the learning of our online students working in close collaboration with our university partner, the University of Essex.

We are also seeking tutors that have experience in content development; the role of Content Developer involves writing and producing academic content based on programme and module specifications in collaboration with our learning technology and academic teams.

It includes developing and recording audio lecture casts, setting unit reading and designing assessments which include discussion forum topics, assignment questions and short formative exercises.

• Digital Health

• Nursing

• Healthcare service improvement

• Change in healthcare

What you’ll bring to the role 
 

You will have a strong academic background and practical applied experience in one or more of the relevant subject areas outlined above. You will also have experience of teaching and assessment on higher education programmes at postgraduate level as well as an enthusiasm for online learning.

Essential criteria

• A MSc in a health-related area.

• A PhD or significant work experience in the healthcare sector.

• Experience of teaching and learning at level 7 within higher education.

• A willingness to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as required/appropriate to experience.

• Excellent IT skills, primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online meeting software.

• Good interpersonal skills, comfortable liaising with academic colleagues, tutors and students both face-to-face and in a virtual environment.

• Experience of working with students from a range of cultural backgrounds.

• Excellent written communication skills in English.

• Reliable internet connection.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of teaching in an online environment.

• Familiarity of the UK Higher Education sector and UK Quality Assurance.

• Relevant Higher Education teaching qualification.

• Fellowship recognition by AdvanceHE.

Additional Application Information 

You will need to be available for the online New Tutor training that runs for 2 weeks from 13th May 2025.

New Tutor Training is mandatory, and the duration of the course is 2 weeks. However, this does not require you to be online for the whole of this period. Instead, you will engage in tasks and activities across the 2-week course such as the following:-

• Engage with a discussion forum.

• Complete the compulsory training - GDPR and Prevent Duty.

• Grade and provide feedback on an example student submission.

• Read up on key KOL and University of Essex Online policies.

• Complete quizzes, e.g. plagiarism quiz.
