At Nottingham Trent International College, we are looking to appoint a Manager of College Services (Wellbeing) to ensure the smooth, effective running and development of the College’s student support services integrating, where appropriate, with academic learning services within the College. Established in 2005, Nottingham Trent International College was Kaplan International’s first pathway college. With students from more 70 countries, the College is a vibrant place. Based at the heart of the City campus in the Belgrave Centre, we offer studies at three different levels (Foundation Certificate, International Year One and Pre-Master’s) leading to over 200 degrees at Nottingham Trent University. Students and staff have access to a wide range of University facilities. 



About the role


As Manager of College Services (Wellbeing) , you will work with the Head of College Services (your line manager) to ensure the smooth, effective running and development of the College’s student support services integrating, where appropriate, with academic learning services within the College. You will have specific oversight on student induction and registration, welfare and safeguarding, accommodation & arrivals, advising students on visa requirements, liaising with Sponsors, and managing social events and a range of other student-related areas and activities.

Main responsibilities and functions


  • Day to day operational responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of all non-academic student support services 
  • Managing College-based activities to ensure all general enquires from students prior to and post-arrival are dealt with in an efficient and effective manner  
  • Managing and developing the College’s induction programmes and ensuring integration with the College’s registration procedures for new students
  • Co-ordinating online support services including the online reception
  • Managing a team of college advisors
  • Managing and developing the Student Voice programme and oversee recording of student feedback
  • Overseeing the College’s social programme for students in an effective and efficient manner to support the cultural, welfare and student learning aims of the College
  • Helping to implement and develop all activities related to welfare support for students. Ensure staff and students are aware of welfare resources available for use by students
  • Overseeing the accurate recording of confidential information by the College Services team. 
  • As a level one UKVI SMS user, to work with the Head of College Services and Kaplan Compliance team, to ensure adherence with statutory requirements for UKVI compliance including the production of CAS, pre-visa renewals checks and attendance monitoring and reporting functions
  • Developing and maintaining online support materials for students
  • Liaising with Sponsors ensuring they are kept informed of student progress, attendance and any pastoral issues and assisting the Central Sponsorship Liaison Team as required.
  • Overseeing the support of students who are under 18 years old ensuring compliance to college policy and UK child protection laws. Be an active member of the college Safeguarding Panel, implementing safeguarding practices into all aspects of the role and standing in for the Designated Safeguarding Lead as required
  • Deputising for the Head of College Services as required
  • Any other duties as required from time to time by the College Director and/or Head of College Services




Candidate profile


You will be customer orientated with management/team leadership experience, gained preferably in the education or EFL sector.


Key skills and knowledge will include:


  • Substantial professional experience
  • A sound understanding of wellbeing support in UK further and/or higher education
  • Understanding of and experience in student administration, student support and/or student welfare issues and systems
  • Strong interest and experience of working with international students
  • A good knowledge of UKVI and Student Route Visa regulations
  • A proven track record in leading, developing or delivering initiatives with a strong customer service focus
  • Strong team leadership skills as demonstrated by a proven track record in this area
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate issues to a wide audience
  • An ability to prioritise effectively, be flexible and manage under pressure is essential.
  • Good project management and strong organizational skills
  • The ability to respond positively to change and to be effective in changing situations
  • Excellent IT skills are critical and experience of database management is desirable
  • In addition you will be enthusiastic and performance-driven with a desire for development within the role



Special Requirements

Appointment to this role will require a DBS check.
